Hernán Romero van Gompel

Prior to founding Brooklyn Incubator, Hernan spent just over two years as a Principal at Linzor Capital Partners, one of the leading private equity firms in Latin America. At Linzor, Hernan was responsible for analyzing investment opportunities across industries with a particular focus on companies in Colombia, Mexico and Peru. While at Linzor, he was part of the team that led the acquisition of TIP Mexico, Mexico’s largest transportation equipment lessor, from General Electric. Further, he oversaw the successful divestment of Colfondos Cesantías y Pensiones S.A., Colombia’s third largest pension fund administrator, to the Bank of Nova Scotia.

Prior to Linzor, Hernan spent three years as a Principal with Altima Partners, a global hedge fund, where he was co-responsible for raising and investing a dedicated equities fund for Latin America and later developing the firm’s efforts in global transportation and infrastructure opportunities. Prior to joining Altima, he worked for three years at J.P. Morgan Partners as an associate with the firm’s Latin America and European private equity groups in New York and London, and for two years with J.P. Morgan’s Latin America M&A Group in New York.


Hernan has served as a director or observer to several corporate boards, including Brunate (holding for Colfondos, Colombia’s third largest pension fund), TIP Mexico (Mexico’s largest lessor of transportation equipment), HTC Teleservices Corporation (Mexico’s leading contact center provider), Pacific Star Logistica (leading foodservice logistics provider in Mexico), and Viajo.com (a leading Latin American on-line travel operator, later sold to mercadolibre.com). Hernan holds an Economics degree from Universidad de los Andes and a Master in International Finance and Business from Columbia University.
